Houses

Carpe Diem, a nine-year old house, initially presented a mix of architectural styles and unharmonious interiors, but with a wonderful location on the island and stunning views of the Mediterranean, its potential was obvious. Door and ceiling heights were aligned and interior archways and arched windows removed to form a cleaner, brighter, streamlined template. Reclaimed Spanish doors replaced the originals, each one adjusted to fit its architrave. Whitewashed walls and Moroccan bathroom tiles in the kitchen and pool area were exchanged for neutral resins to integrate the interior and exterior of the property. At the back of the "chiringuito", Miriam Dominguez Guerra's white concrete staircase, a reinterpretation of a typical Balearic style, leads to a roof space with a stunning view of the bay. Furnished with sun loungers and comfortable cushions, the chill out space with concealed screen and projector converts into an open-air cinema under the stars.
