Flats

This grand complex of 301 flats in 26 blocks by Emre Arolat, is set in luscious greenery, 5 minutes from the 1st bridge of the Bosphorus on the European side. Miriam had free rein to create a completely custom-built, family home from a 300 sqm ground and 1st floor shell. She divided the maisonette into 2 independent living areas, linked by a dramatic staircase for which a balustrade of fine billowing copper scrollwork was commissioned. Day/service areas were positioned on the garden floor and 3 bedrooms, dressing rooms, bathrooms and TV/playroom upstairs. The concept worked around a palette of copper, leather, wood, imported Italian tiles, English wooden door handles and window shutters. A smoked-glass screen and diagonal lines travelled through the entire space, accentuated by flooring with contrasting borders. The project called for plenty of Miriam's trademarks: cupboards, mirrored cabinets, concealed sockets, sophisticated indirect lighting and contemporary-vintage decoration.
